Designing a Conceptual Assessment Framework for Reading and Writing Skills in Chinese Language Instruction: Guiding Pedagogical Practices in Tanzanian Secondary Schools
Abstract
Abstract This paper has proposed a conceptual framework for assessing reading and writing in Chinese language instruction at the secondary school level in Tanzania. By integrating dimensions of comprehension, interpretation, and lexical grammatical competence, the framework offers a structured approach to evaluating literacy that goes beyond traditional reliance on summative examinations. In doing so, it highlights how assessment can function not only as a measure of outcomes but also as a tool for guiding pedagogy and supporting learner development. For Tanzanian secondary schools, this shift underscores the importance of adopting assessment practices that are both contextually relevant and pedagogically meaningful, while also laying a foundation for future implementation and teacher training initiatives Keywords: Conceptual Assessment Framework, Reading and Writing Skills, Chinese Language Instruction, Guiding Pedagogical Practices, Tanzanian Secondary Schools
