Abstract

Session 3 of the EPOS-ES seminar on Open Access, FAIR data and Data Management in Geosciences. This presentation outlines the trajectory, current structure, and future roadmap of EPOS-ES, the Spanish national node of the European Plate Observing System (EPOS). It describes the evolution of Spain’s participation in EPOS across its preparatory, implementation, and sustainability phases, and details the organizational model, governance structure, and coordination mechanisms at national and European levels. The presentation highlights strategic goals, including the integration of Spanish Thematic Core Services (TCS) and Data, Data Products and Services (DDSS), the strengthening of digital service capacities, and the promotion of Open Science and FAIR data practices within the Spanish geoscientific community. It also summarizes outreach, training, dissemination activities, and efforts to enhance Spain’s contribution to the EPOS Data Portal. The material serves as an overview of EPOS-ES development, achievements (2023–2025), and future challenges within the European research infrastructure landscape.
