juanemontealegrec-pixel/blastocystis-global-analysis: Global Blastocystis 18S rRNA dataset and phylogenetic analysis (Version 1.0)
Abstract
This release contains the complete dataset, curated metadata, and analysis scripts used in the study: "Global occurrence and subtype diversity of Blastocystis based on publicly available 18S rRNA sequences." Description This repository provides a reproducible analytical framework for evaluating global Blastocystis subtype diversity, host associations, and geographic distribution using publicly available GenBank sequences. Contents Curated 18S rRNA sequence dataset Standardized metadata table (host, country, taxonomic classification) Multiple sequence alignment files Filtered and manually trimmed alignment Maximum Likelihood phylogenetic tree file Python scripts used for metadata processing and visualization Main and supplementary figures Methods overview Sequence alignment was performed using MAFFT v7. Phylogenetic reconstruction was conducted under the Maximum Likelihood framework using MEGA v12 with the T92+G substitution model and Adaptive Bootstrap support. Metadata were manually curated and standardized prior to analysis. Purpose This release ensures full transparency, reproducibility, and permanent archival of the data and analytical workflow associated with the manuscript submitted to Acta Parasitologica.
