Abstract

Women remain significantly underrepresented in STEM globally despite their crucial role in driving innovation and sustainability. In the Western Balkans, and particularly in Albania, female participation in STEM is increasing, supported by initiatives that promote leadership and equity. Nanotechnology represents a key opportunity for transformative impact, and the Albanian Women in Nanotech (AWIN) network was established to connect women scientists across the region and diaspora, foster collaboration, address structural barriers, and inspire future generations through community building and shared experiences.
