Abstract

AI alignment—the project of ensuring artificial intelligence systems pursue ob-jectives compatible with human preferences—is not merely difficult but physicallyimpossible for systems with computational capacity substantially exceeding hu-man cognitive capability. This work demonstrates three independent impossibilityproofs.
