Feasibility Study for the Use of Renewable Energy as Complementary Power Supply at UCAB Guayana's School of Industrial Engineering
Abstract
This project aims to study the technical and economic feasibility of using renewable energy as a supplementary electricity supply for the Industrial Engineering School building at the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB), Guayana campus. This research is integrative and evaluative, as it seeks to assess results in order to measure their impact on the project's goals. Data collection was carried out through direct observation and documentary analysis of research papers, scientific articles, and websites. First, the building's electricity consumption was determined, followed by a climatological analysis to identify renewable energy alternatives. The technical study involved selecting the best energy alternative using a criteria weighting method. Following this selection, all the necessary equipment for the hybrid photovoltaic system design was chosen. Finally, the cost structure is developed, projecting costs over a 5-year horizon to assess the feasibility of the investment. Similarly, the Logical Framework is used to establish indicators that provide information on the social, environmental, and technological benefits of the project, as well as to compare operating costs with the current alternative system.
