DG-9.0 – Varroa Resistance as Systemic Stability: Genetic–Microbiome Coherence and Limits of Trait Transfer
Abstract
This report proposes a systemic interpretation of Varroa resistance in honey bee colonies. Rather than a directly transferable genetic trait of individual queens, resistance is presented as an emergent property arising from coordinated interactions between genetic diversity, behavioral differentiation, microbiome stability, and ecological context. The document integrates these dynamics within the GBM (Genetic · Behavioral · Microbiome) framework and interprets resistance as a function of colony buffering capacity. It further discusses the limits of queen-based trait transfer and the conditions under which spontaneous tolerance may emerge in non-selected colonies.
