Abstract

Global GDP reached 105 trillion dollars in 2023, suggesting an era of unprecedentedprosperity. Global per capita income, at 13,000 dollars, implies that every human beinghas sufficient resources for a dignified life. However, these aggregate figures constituteone of the most pernicious statistical deceptions of our time: they conceal a reality inwhich 712 million people survive on less than 2.15 dollars a day, while 2,668 billionairesaccumulate 12.7 trillion. This document systematically unravels how conventional economic metrics—GDP andper capita income—function as statistical masks that hide the real magnitude of globalpoverty. We will examine the world’s largest economies to show that, even in nationsconsidered “prosperous”, millions live under conditions of severe deprivation. We willpropose scientific humanism as a necessary alternative to a system that has normalizedeconomic barbarism.
