Abstract

We propose a theoretical framework describing cultural habituation as an irreversible col- lapse of evaluative dimensionality. Each individual possesses an evaluation exponent n, which monotonically decreases through repeated exposure to stimuli. While individual recovery of n is impossible, apparent recovery at the societal level emerges from population turnover. We derive a conservation condition for cultural persistence, demonstrate how strong and structurally sim- ilar stimuli accelerate generational collapse of n, and show via numerical simulation that such collapse can occur within one to two generations. This framework unifies childhood sensitiv- ity, habituation, addiction-like repetition, and contemporary cultural degradation under a single irreversible dynamic.
