Abstract
The fine-structure constant α ≈ 1/137.036, a dimensionless coupling constant of electromagnetism, remains one of the most enigmatic numbers in physics. Despite its precise measurement, no fundamental theory explains its value; it is included in the standard model as an empirical data point. In a series of related works [1–3], I derived the cosmological constant Λ, the graviton mass m_g, and the ratio of cosmic coincidences p_Λ/p_m from a single geometric principle: the incommensurability between a sphere and its boundary, expressed by the irrationality of π. In this work, I extend the framework of the chronosphere to the fine-structure constant and show that within the model of the chronosphere, a three-dimensional sphere whose boundary represents the active ontological principle of "Nothingness," the same incommensurability generates a pure number that precisely corresponds to α.
