CRISPR Endocannabinoid Modulation Therapy for Regenerating Bone Marrow in Aplastic Anemia A Hypothetical Preprint (May Contain Errors)
Abstract
Aplastic anemia is a severe hematopoietic disorder characterizedby failure of bone marrow to produce adequate blood cells. Cur-rent treatments, such as immunosuppressive therapy and hematopoi-etic stem cell transplantation, have significant limitations. Recentinsights into the endocannabinoid system (ECS), including receptorsCB1 and CB2 in bone marrow niches, suggest a regulatory role inhematopoietic stem and progenitor cell survival, migration, and mo-bilization [1, 2]. Concurrently, CRISPR/Cas-based editing techniquesprovide precise modulation of gene expression and receptor activity. We propose a theoretical framework for a CRISPR-based therapeuticstrategy targeting ECS components to enhance bone marrow regen-eration in aplastic anemia. Although preclinical evidence supportsECS involvement in hematopoiesis and stem cell function, translationto clinical use remains untested. This preprint outlines foundationalbiology, potential targets, and phased research strategies required forsuch an innovative therapeutic approach.
