ETHNOCULTURAL SPECIFICITY OF THE CONCEPT "HOLIDAY" IN THE LINGUISTIC WORLDVIEW (BASED ON ENGLISH, FRENCH, AND RUSSIAN)
Abstract
The article examines the concept of “holiday” as a key ethnocultural unit in English, French, and Russian linguistic worldviews. The study aims to identify semantic, cognitive, and cultural features of the concept through lexicographic analysis and ethnocultural interpretation. Using dictionary definitions, linguistic data, and culturally significant holidays (Christmas, La Saint-Martin, and Maslenitsa), the research reveals national-specific meanings, symbols, and values. The novelty of the work lies in the comparative cognitive analysis of the concept as realized in language, ritual, and phraseology.
