Abstract
The devotional, liturgical and funerary space of the old altar of Saint John the Baptist in Córdoba Cathedral was the subject of two foundations. The first, around 1390, was probably commissioned by Canon Juan Muñoz. The second, around 1463, was commissioned by Diego Sánchez de Castro, a canon, with various dedications, one of which, the main one, replaced the original dedication to Saint John the Baptist, and was known, at least from the 18th century onwards, as the altar of the Annunciation.
