Youth Participation in Politics for Effective Governance
Abstract
Abstract Youth participation in politics is essential for effective governance and democratic sustainability, especially in developing democracies like India. Active involvement of young people in political processes enhances democratic legitimacy, accountability, transparency, and policy innovation. Beyond voting, youth engagement in leadership, policymaking, and civic activism contributes to responsive and future-oriented governance. However, socio-economic barriers, political apathy, and limited institutional opportunities restrict meaningful youth participation. Strengthening political education, inclusive institutions, and youth leadership platforms is therefore crucial for promoting effective and participatory governance.
