Abstract

This Treball Final del Masters (TFM) discusses an action research project that took place during the authors’ 7-week practicum teaching English as a foreign language at the public adult education center, EOIX. The authors presented a 6-session (12-hour) Didactic Sequence to two 2 class groups of approximately 30 students (A2-B1 level) using the Task-based Language Teaching (TBLT) methodology. The authors detected a need to develop a framework for introducing tasks and genre in the classroom. The project aims to help students that are learning a language based on the TBLT methodology to face classroom tasks with more confidence and provide them with a way to measure their own progress and or success via an innovative framework for introducing tasks into the classroom. The result is a set of practical and adaptable tools that provide students with clearer criteria that empower them to achieve their personal best via a “recipe” for success and invite students to participate in the assessment process which, in turn, allows them to take responsibility for defining their own learning goals.
