Quantum Fields, Pre-Photon Excitations, and the Emergence of Mass
Abstract
This paper presents an interpretive framework for understanding how discrete particles emerge from continuous quantum fields. It introduces the concept of a pre-photon regime, describing off-shell electromagnetic excitations that precede the formation of real photons and clarifying the transition from vacuum field energy to observable quanta. By extending the same continuous-to-discrete logic to Higgs coupling and mass generation, the work offers a unified conceptual picture for particle identity, wave-particle duality, vacuum fluctuations, and quantum uncertainty. The framework does not modify standard quantum field theory or propose new experimental predictions; instead, it provides a pedagogically coherent interpretation that connects vacuum structure, field excitations, and particle emergence within existing QFT formalism.
