Abstract

This article examines the conceptual nature of color terms in the Uzbek language and their semantic layers from the perspective of compiling a conceptological dictionary. Written in accordance with the IMRaD model, the study analyzes color concepts through denotative, connotative, phraseological, cognitive, historical, and linguocultural dimensions. Special attention is paid to the principles of representing color concepts in a conceptological dictionary entry. Drawing on lexical, phraseological, folkloric, and literary sources, the research proposes a structured model for dictionary entries that reflects the multilayered semantic structure of color concepts. The findings demonstrate that a conceptological approach to lexicography enables a deeper interpretation of color terms as cultural and cognitive units, rather than merely nominative lexical items. Keywords:color concept, conceptological dictionary, semantic layers, linguoculture, cognitive linguistics.
