Abstract

This thesis presents a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of the large-scale production of the metal–organic framework MIL-100(Fe), aiming to evaluate its environmental sustainability and identifymain impact hotspots. This study is part of the European SIMIACCI project, which seeks to deploy MIL100(Fe) as a sustainable air filtration material for Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums (GLAMs), competitive with traditional filters, such as High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters composed of glass fibres, or Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV-13) filters based on polypropylene granulate.
