Entropic-Geometric Evolution Hypothesis A Thermodynamic Reinterpretation of Cosmic Acceleration
Abstract
This paper proposes the Entropic-Geometric Evolution Hypothesis, a theoretical framework that reinterprets cosmic acceleration as a geometric manifestation of the second law of thermodynamics at cosmological scales . By applying a variational principle that maximizes horizon entropy production subject to energy conservation, we derive modified Friedmann equations where the acceleration term emerges dynamically without introducing new fundamental fields . The model predicts a distinct, redshift-dependent deviation in the dark energy equation of state that is suppressed at high redshifts and peaks near the era of matter-dark energy equality . While consistent with current observational constraints, this hypothesis offers falsifiable predictions that can be decisively tested by upcoming Stage-IV surveys such as DESI and Euclid .
