The multilingual publication history of Johann Fischer von Waldheim (1771–1853)

Fischer von Waldheim was one of a number of scholars who were appointed to one of the many newly founded or reopened universities in Russia during the 18th and 19th centuries. His publications span over 50 years and appear in numerous languages. In this data visualisation, I have investigated the role played by originals and translations in this transfer of knowledge. What is the relationship between the place of publication, the language of publication and their status as original or translation? Each publication is represented by its year of publication (framed numbers represent monographs, unframed numbers represent articles). A colour code determines the language of publication.
