Extreme precipitation in Italy: a rare but territorially unequal phenomenon
Abstract
Extremely intense precipitation shows strong territorial heterogeneity, concentrating mainly in the North-East regions. In Central and Southern Italy, extreme events are rare, episodic, and show no clear temporal trend. Percentage changes are of limited representativeness because of the very low absolute frequency of events.
