LICE as a methodological apparatus in performative research‑creation: nine‑phase architecture, traceability, and multimodal documentation
Abstract
WORKING PAPER / METHODOLOGICAL POSITION PAPER (version under development) Access and methodological confidentiality note The operational LICE platform (internal workspace and documentation environment) is not shared publicly in order to preserve the academic integrity of the MA thesis, protect authorship, maintain version control, and safeguard internal traceability. This paper provides a general, verifiable description of the apparatus without disclosing the operational repository or its complete templates. Abstract The Laboratory for Research and Scenic Creation (LICE) is presented as a methodological apparatus designed to transform scenic practice into evidence that can be documented, analysed, and validated within Arts-Based Research (ABR). LICE emerges in response to three structural tensions in research-creation: (1) documenting systematically without reducing performative knowledge to text, (2) ensuring methodological rigour without importing positivist criteria alien to artistic practice, and (3) producing transferable knowledge without claiming abstract universality. Keywords Arts-based research; research-creation; performance; methodological apparatus; traceability; multimodal documentation; multi-tier annotation; qualitative analysis; collaborative artificial intelligence; longitudinal archiving.
