Abstract

This dataset contains socio-demographic information, Clinician-Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS) scores, and Mini-Mental Adjustment to Cancer (Mini-MAC) scores for 50 patients diagnosed with melanoma or soft tissue sarcoma who underwent surgical treatment at the Veneto Institute of Oncology (Padua, Italy) between October 2022 and May 2023. The dataset includes: Patient age, sex, and relevant medical history CAPS results for PTSD-related symptoms, including criteria A–F and total severity scores Mini-MAC scores for coping strategies: fighting spirit, hopelessness, anxious preoccupation, fatalism, and avoidance Statistical associations between PTSD symptoms and coping strategies, including analyses by gender and prior stressful events Data were collected through structured interviews and standardized questionnaires in a single assessment per patient, following ethical approval and informed consent. The dataset has been anonymized to protect patient privacy. This dataset enables researchers to explore trauma-related symptoms and coping strategies in oncology patients and to replicate or extend analyses on PTSD prevalence, symptom profiles, and psychological adjustment in cancer populations.
