Characterization of Cancer-Associated Fibroblasts in Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors using spatial transcriptomics
Abstract
This DMP characterizes the data management plan for study devoted to characterization of cancer-associated fibroblasts in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs) using spatial transcriptomics Study abstract: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF) are an essential part of the tumor microenvironment (TME). CAFs promote tumor progression by extracellular matrix (ECM) remodelling, metabolic effects, secretion of soluble factors, and immunogenic interactions. Although crosstalk between CAFs and tumor cells has been identified in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs) the exact role and molecular mechanisms of CAFs in GEP-NET tumorigenesis still remain poorly understood. In this project, we aim to identify and characterize specific subspecies of CAFs found in GEP-NET tumors using single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics approaches in order to profile the impact of CAFs on tumor cell transcriptome, and assess the crosstalk between tumor and stroma.
