Karan Fries Cow: The High-Yield Revolution for Indian Farmers
Abstract
India retains its status as the global leader in milk production. As of 2025, the nation's aggregate milk production has reached 248 million tonnes, with per capita availability rising to 485 grams per day. This trajectory is attributed not merely to herd expansion but to the adoption of scientifically developed, high-productivity breeds. Data from the Basic Animal Husbandry Statistics 2025 indicates a structural transition in the Indian dairy sector from traditional subsistence farming toward an efficiency-centric model. Consequently, the contribution of crossbred cattle is steadily increasing relative to indigenous and non-descript populations, establishing genetic improvement as the pivot of India’s modern milk revolution.
