Abstract

Celali İsyanları (1550–1603) Zeynep DURSİN ÖZET Bu çalışma, Osmanlı iktisat ve sosyal tarihçiliğinin öncü isimlerinden Mustafa Akdağ’ın kaleme aldığı Celali İsyanları (1550–1603) adlı eserin kapsamlı bir incelemesini ve değerlendirmesini sunmaktadır. Akdağ, söz konusu eserinde XVI. ve XVII. yüzyıllarda Anadolu’yu derinden sarsan Celali ayaklanmalarını; klasik vakanüvis anlatılarının aksine, yalnızca siyasi ve askeri bir asayiş sorunu olarak değil, Osmanlı’nın değişen sosyoekonomik yapısı, tımar sisteminin çözülmesi ve demografik baskı unsurları bağlamında ele almıştır. Bu kitap incelemesinde, yazarın isyanların kökenine dair geliştirdiği 'ekonomik buhran' ve 'dirlik kavgası' tezleri irdelenmiş; eserin Osmanlı taşra teşkilatındaki bozulmaları açıklama biçimi analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca, yazarın tarih edebiyatına kazandırdığı 'Büyük Kaçgun' kavramı ve kırsaldan kente göç olgusunun Osmanlı toplumsal düzeninde yarattığı kalıcı dönüşümler, eserin yöntem arayışına ışığında değerlendirilmiştir. Anahtar Kelimeler: Celali isyanları, Osmanlı Devleti, İsyan, Adalet, Anadolu isyanları, Sosyal ve ekonomik kriz, Vergi sistemi, Eşkiyalık hareketleri, Göç hareketleri. Magnificent Ottoman History and the Magnificent Turkish Century ABSTRACT This study provides a comprehensive examination and evaluation of the work titled Celali İsyanları (1550–1603), authored by Mustafa Akdağ, one of the pioneering figures of Ottoman economic and social historiography. In this work, Akdağ examines the Celali rebellions—which profoundly shook Anatolia during the 16th and 17th centuries—not merely as a political and military issue of public order, as presented in classical chronicler narratives, but within the context of the Ottoman Empire's shifting socioeconomic structure, the dissolution of the timar system, and demographic pressures. This book review scrutinizes the author’s 'economic crisis' and 'struggle for dirlik' (fiefdom) theses regarding the origins of the uprisings, and analyzes the work’s methodology in explaining the institutional decay within the Ottoman provincial administration. Furthermore, the concept of the 'Great Flight' (Büyük Kaçgun), which the author introduced to historical literature, and the permanent transformations in the Ottoman social order triggered by rural-to-urban migration, are evaluated in light of the work's methodological approach.
