Abstract

The accelerated growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has greatly influenced learning behaviors in higher education, especially in encouraging independent and lifelong learning. AI-based tools such as intelligent tutoring systems, learning management systems, virtual assistants, and learning analytics help learners become more autonomous in their learning processes by offering them personalized content, immediate feedback, and constant support beyond the classroom environment. This research paper explores the use of AI tools in encouraging self-directed learning behaviors and lifelong learning among higher education students. Through a descriptive and analytical research methodology, data was gathered from students to evaluate their knowledge, usage, and perceptions of AI-based educational tools. The results show that AI tools increase learner autonomy, motivation, and continuous skill development by allowing flexible, personalized, and on-demand learning experiences.
