Age-Dependent POC Remineralization in a 2D CliMAOceanBiogeochemistry Configuration
Abstract
This repository provides a Julia-based framework for modeling age-dependent particulate organic carbon (POC) remineralization within a 2D configuration of ClimaOceanBiogeochemistry.jl. Prerequisites Before running this code, ensure you have installed the core ClimaOceanBiogeochemistry model: https://github.com/CliMA/ClimaOceanBiogeochemistry.jl Julia Dependencies This model relies on several registered Julia packages, including Oceananigans.jl. To install the necessary dependencies, use the Julia package manager: import Pkg; Pkg.add(["Oceananigans"]) Repository Structure /src (Source Code) carbon_alkalinity_nutrients.jl: A modified version of the standard ClimaOceanBiogeochemistry file, updated to include the age-dependent remineralization scheme for POC. /setup (Model Configurations) Includes two simulation environments, both utilizing a 2D idealized Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) with consistent advection and diffusion parameters: Baseline: A steady-state configuration for control simulations. Perturbed: A configuration designed for temporal perturbation experiments. /output (Model Results) Contains 2D biogeochemical output files: baseline.jld2: Results from a static forcing simulation following a 2,000-year spin-up. Perturbation Files: Three datasets representing system responses to different oscillating forcing periods.
