India's Path to Viksit Bharat @2047: An Empirical Study on Development Priorities and Institutional Readiness
Abstract
Abstract The vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 represents India’s commitment to achieving comprehensive economic prosperity, social inclusion, and technological advancement by the centenary year of independence. Realizing this ambitious goal requires an integrated strategic policy framework that aligns national priorities with institutional capacity and public participation. This study examines the roadmap for Viksit Bharat @2047 by combining conceptual policy analysis with empirical evidence to assess public perceptions of development priorities, implementation challenges, and governance readiness. The findings reveal high public awareness of the Viksit Bharat vision and strong consensus on the importance of human capital development, technological innovation, and employment generation as key drivers of transformation. Funding constraints, institutional capacity gaps, and infrastructure deficits were identified as major challenges to effective implementation. Respondents expressed moderate satisfaction with current development progress and cautious optimism regarding India’s preparedness to achieve the 2047 goals. Strong support was observed for digital governance, environmental sustainability, youth participation, and private sector collaboration. The study concludes that while India possesses significant momentum toward achieving the Viksit Bharat vision, accelerated investments in education, innovation, governance efficiency, and inclusive participation are essential. The paper offers policy insights to strengthen strategic planning and institutional coordination, thereby contributing to evidence-based discourse on India’s long-term developmental transformation.
