Abstract

As economies undergo swift transformations, tax systems need to adapt to the requirements of fluid markets, digital transactions, and increasing globalization. This paper investigates the progression of India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) towards a proposed GST 2.0 framework, along with reforms in the Income Tax system. It analyses the journey, obstacles, innovations, and future potential of both tax structures while aiming to suggest a contemporary, effective, and fair tax framework. The paper utilizes comparative perspectives, technological advancements, compliance strategies, policy implications, and future trends. By merging GST 2.0 with income tax reforms, the Indian tax system can improve revenue generation, lessen compliance burdens, curtail litigation, and foster economic advancement.
