2666: A Disturbing Literary Creation—Brushstrokes, Fragments of Our Time
Abstract
In this article, I attempt an approach to Roberto Bolaño’s novel, highlighting how difficult its acceptance was in the classroom at the beginning of the century, due to its innovative characteristics: fragmentation, its unfinished nature, and yet its condition as a “total novel,” in which simultaneity and chance frequently occur. 2666 appears permeated by pessimism; it represents the emptiness and indeterminacy of our time not through the mimetic but through the symbolic, expressing the primary human need for transcendence. Its fractal structure reflects a spiritual crisis whose only hope lies in the acceptance of failure from a poetic perspective.
