Abstract

Orthogonal Reconstruction Theorem (ORT) Description: This paper introduces the Orthogonal Reconstruction Theorem (ORT), a structural result in the theory of distinguishability under projection. The theorem addresses the loss of injectivity that occurs when a state space is projected into a lower-dimensional representation. When distinct states become indistinguishable under projection, persistent folding of trajectories may arise. ORT demonstrates that under mild measurability and persistence conditions (including the Condition of Persistent Folding, CPF), accumulation over time can be promoted to an independent coordinate, restoring distinguishability. Formally, given a non-injective projection P: S -> R, and a measurable functional T capturing cumulative deviation under persistent folding, the extended mapping (P, T) becomes injective on the set of persistently folded states. The additional coordinate is shown to be informationally orthogonal to the original projection. The theorem provides a geometric interpretation of how temporal accumulation can become a structural dimension. This result forms the third element in a sequence of results concerning degradation under projection, necessity of memory, and orthogonal reconstruction. The Pacioli Axis is introduced as a historical interpretation of injectivity restoration through accumulated balancing, but the theorem itself is independent of this interpretation. ORT does not provide a forecasting method or an optimization scheme. It establishes a structural condition under which distinguishability can be reconstructed through dimensional extension.
