"Theoretical and Practical Aspects of Restarting Breakages in Ring Spinning: Mathematical Modeling and Analysis"
Abstract
This study investigates restarting breakages (RSB) in ring spinning, which occur during doffing or machine restarts and are typically higher than normal breakage rates. A generalized mathematical model based on Weibull parameters is developed to quantify RSB, incorporating transient tension spikes and variability in fiber properties. The analysis identifies tension spikes (TT spike) and the shape parameter (β) as dominant factors influencing RSB. Practical aspects such as delayed drafting mechanisms, spindle acceleration, ballooning tension, winding tension, and air drag are examined. The paper proposes strategies to reduce RSB, including tension optimization, twist retention, and environmental control, offering actionable insights to improve machine performance and yarn quality.
