Abstract

This factsheet presents runoff harvesting with field-side swales as a nature-based solution for on-farm water catchment and supplementary irrigation within the GEORGIA project. By capturing and storing surface runoff in retention ponds for later reuse, the system reduces erosion and nutrient losses, improves water-use efficiency, and enhances drought resilience in arable farming systems.
