Abstract

This factsheet presents earth-dug terraces and interconnected retention ponds as a nature-based solution for rainwater runoff capture, infiltration, storage, and reuse within the GEORGIA project. The system slows and redistributes surface runoff in sloping agricultural landscapes, reducing erosion, enhancing soil moisture recharge, and providing gravity-fed irrigation to strengthen drought resilience.
