What is Law?
Abstract
The notion of law is essential to human civilization; however, its exact definition is still debated. This paper analyses law from philosophical, social, and empirical perspectives. Utilizing jurisprudential theories of natural law, legal positivism, and legal realism, we examine law as a normative framework, a societal occurrence, and a tool for government. Empirical assessments are performed through comparative case studies and legal outcomes analysis to comprehend the efficacy of legislation and its societal function. The study indicates that law is best understood as a dynamic socio-legal construct shaped by historical background, societal norms, and institutional practices.
