Sliding Average of Paleomagnetic Poles for Gondwana and Laurassia
Abstract
We applied two algorithms (R and Python). It is a new sliding weighted average method with a 10 Myr window, incorporating three weighting factors: temporal overlap with the target window, confidence interval, and a quality factor. Rather than using a simple Fisher average, we implemented an optimal weighted average approach that accounts for both symmetric (Fisher) and asymmetric (Bingham-LeGoff) distributions.
