COMMON PRONUNCIATION PROBLEMS OF EFL LEARNERS
Abstract
Pronunciation plays a vital role in effective communication in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. However, many EFL learners experience significant difficulties in acquiring accurate pronunciation due to phonological differences, limited exposure to authentic input, and inadequate instructional focus. This article examines the most common pronunciation problems faced by EFL learners, including segmental and suprasegmental errors, and analyzes their causes. It also proposes practical teaching strategies to address these issues. The study highlights that systematic pronunciation instruction and increased listening practice can greatly enhance learners’ intelligibility and communicative competence.
