The Decoherence Mirage: Kinematic Obstruction and the Arithmetic Limits of Quantum Error Correction
Abstract
We propose that the physical universe is an information manifold spanned by the prime numbers. From this Arithmetic Ansatz, we evaluate the mechanical execution of quantum algorithms, specifically Shor’s algorithm, not as abstract linear algebra, but as physical deformations of this arithmetic medium. Drawing on the principles of Kinematic Obstruction established in fluid dynamics and gauge theory, we identify quantum decoherence as the macroscopic manifestation of a Spectral Scattering Operator. We demonstrate that the current empirical failure to scale Quantum Error Correction (QEC) is not a result of correctable environmental noise, but a fundamental geometric limit. The exponential Arithmetic Strain required to maintain macroscopic entanglement fundamentally outpaces the polynomial steering reach of topological surface codes, rendering the fully fault-tolerant logical qubit a geometric mirage. The physical medium’s Diophantine stiffness strictly forbids infinite computational density, violently shattering the logical qubit via forced spectral resonance to preserve the kinematic regularity of the vacuum.
