Abstract

This dataset contains the heatwave hazard assessment for İzmir Metropolitan Area developed under the CLIMAAX project. Heatwave events were detected using daily minimum and maximum temperature projections from the NASA NEX-GDDP-CMIP6 dataset. Multi-model ensemble median data were used for SSP245 and SSP585 scenarios. Heatwaves are defined as ≥5 consecutive days during June–August where both Tmin and Tmax exceed the 90th percentile of the 1980–2010 baseline period. The dataset includes ensemble climate data, detected heatwave statistics, and visual outputs. File-Level Descriptions Climate_Data.zip - Ensemble temperature datasets used for heatwave detection. tasmin_median_ssp245.ncEnsemble median daily minimum temperature (°C) for SSP245 scenario. tasmax_median_ssp245.ncEnsemble median daily maximum temperature (°C) for SSP245 scenario. tasmin_median_ssp585.ncEnsemble median daily minimum temperature (°C) for SSP585 scenario. tasmax_median_ssp585.ncEnsemble median daily maximum temperature (°C) for SSP585 scenario. Heatwave_stats_result.zip - All heatwave statistics outputs. Contains heatwave detection outputs for selected İzmir districts under SSP245 and SSP585. For each district (Balçova, Bornova, Çeşme, Gaziemir, Karşıyaka, Konak): daily_data_with_heatwaves_*.csvDaily JJA temperature series with heatwave flags. heatwave_events_*.csvIdentified heatwave events including start date, end date, duration, and temperature statistics. heatwave_annual_frequency_*.csvAnnual number of heatwave events. heatwave_statistics_summary_*.csvSummary statistics including total events, total heatwave days, mean duration, and maximum duration. Plots.zipAll heatwave hazard visual outputs. Visualisation per district showing temperature time series, percentile thresholds, annual frequency, and event duration. heatwave_hazard_analysis.ipynbInteractive Jupyter Notebook implementing the full heatwave hazard workflow.
