Abstract

This dataset contains supplementary regression plots analyzing female employment trends in Italian TV serial production from 2000 to 2023. These visualizations complement the main findings presented in the study "Women Off-Screen: A Data-Driven Analysis of Gender Inequalities in Italian TV Serial Production (2000-2023)." The plots provide complete visual representation of linear regression analyses examining the evolution of female employment rates across different professional categories over the 24-year period. The dataset includes four regression plots: All Roles: Linear regression showing female employment trends across all professional roles (cast and crew combined); Cast: Linear regression showing female employment trends for actors and actresses; Above-the-Line Roles: Linear regression showing female employment trends for creative and decision-making positions (directors, producers, writers); Below-the-Line Roles: Linear regression showing female employment trends for technical and craft positions (all roles excluding cast and above-the-line). Each plot displays: Annual female employment rate (percentage) on the y-axis; Year (2000-2023) on the x-axis. METHODOLOGY: The regression analyses are based on the professional credits dataset (see related dataset: IMDb-based Italian TV Serial Production (2000-2023): Episode-Level Cast and Crew Credits).Female employment was calculated yearly by counting unique women professionals who worked on at least one episode in that year, consistent with EUROSTAT employment definitions. Linear regression analysis was performed to assess statistical significance of trends over time. Detailed methodology, including bootstrap confidence intervals and interpretation of results, is provided in the associated research paper (Section 3.2.1). NOTES: These plots were not included in the main paper due to space constraints but are made available for transparency and reproducibility. The plots for above-the-line and below-the-line roles are included in the published paper (Figure 1). FILE FORMAT: Image files (JPG format, high resolution suitable for publication)
