THE ILLUSION OF WEALTH: HOW SOCIAL MEDIA SHAPES YOUNG PEOPLE'S MISPERCEPTIONS OF VALUES
Abstract
In this article, Social media strongly shapes young people’s perceptions of wealth and success in the digital age. Continuous exposure to idealized lifestyles creates an illusion of prosperity that often differs from reality. This illusion fosters misconfidence, leading youth to prioritize material wealth over intrinsic values such as education and personal development. This article explores how social media distorts value systems among young people and highlights the importance of media literacy in addressing these effects.
