Abstract

The human body is the most complex and perfect work of nature, and for it to function as described in the treatise, invisible but extremely important elements are required. One of such vital substances is undoubtedly iodine. Although this microelement is only a few micrograms in size, it is responsible for the intellectual potential, physical strength and spiritual vitality of an entire generation. Especially for the population of a country like Uzbekistan, located far from the seas and oceans, in a unique ecological zone, the issue of iodine is not just a medical recommendation, but a strategic issue related to the preservation of the nation's gene pool. In areas where iodine deficiency is observed in soil and water, the lack of this element leads not only to impaired thyroid function, but also to mental retardation and decreased work capacity of the growing younger generation. In this article, we will talk about the great "behind the scenes" services of iodine in the human body, what hidden dangers its deficiency poses, and how we can protect ourselves in the conditions of our country.
