Abstract

The prevalence of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) has significantly increased, symptoms manifesting in preschool educational environment. ASD is characterized by impaired social interaction, communication deficits, and repetitive behaviors. The severity and symptoms vary among children, complicating timely and accurate diagnosis. In Latvia social rehabilitation and education extend beyond diagnosis, aiming to understand the child's psychological profile and how they form relationships and communicate. Early intervention targeting cognitive, social, and behavioral development is crucial. Behavior and communication therapies, especially Social Behavioral Therapy enhance emotional regulation, social skills, and communication. Technological interventions, such as robot-assisted autism therapy, have proven effective, however, they are expensive and complex. Smart sensory toys present a simpler, cost-effective alternative, enhancing social rehabilitation without requiring special training for use. The project aims to develop a psychological profile for using smart sensory toys in social rehabilitation for children with ASD. The research methodology includes a case study, to analyze and adjust the toys and creates a comprehensive psychological profile, involving parents, specialists, and children with ASD. The study adheres to ethical standards, ensuring participants' well-being, autonomy, and privacy. The findings will be published, maintaining transparency and research integrity.
