Abstract

This poster, presented at 1st Stuttgart Research Software Day, introduces MetaConfigurator, a web-based editor for designing, visualizing, and managing JSON Schemas. Developed at the University of Stuttgart, MetaConfigurator supports the creation of structured data models that improve FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reproducible) data practices. Following the Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) approach, MetaConfigurator treats data models as first-class elements and enables automatic generation of code, documentation, and graphical forms from these models. The tool also provides integrated assistance for editing and schema-based data mapping. An example from chemistry shows how MetaConfigurator was used to define a schema for synthesis and characterization data of Metal–Organic Framework materials, ensuring consistent and validated data structures across different laboratory data sources. The poster includes a QR code linking to the online version of MetaConfigurator.
