Abstract

This study examines the implications of youth unemployment on sustainable peace in Nigeriausing primary data from 772 respondents collected through structured questionnaires.Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) is employed to analyze the data, with diagnostic testsconfirming the validity and robustness of the model. The findings reveal a significant andinverse link between youth unemployment and sustainable peace. Economic factors (poverty, income inequality), political constraints (weak labor market policies, underfunded education, governance inefficiencies), and social exclusion emerge as key drivers of youth unemployment. The study underscores the need for integrated policy responses that simultaneously addressunemployment through job creation, improved governance and education funding, andinclusive social programs. Such a coordinated approach is essential for promoting long-termpeace and stability in Nigeria.
