Abstract

We present the concept for a next generation mid-infrared, adaptive optics fed, high dispersion spectrograph for the VLT dedicated to the study of exoplanetary atmospheres. The instrument will allow to cover in a single exposure all the L and M bands with a resolving power of at least R∼50000. Compared to CRIRES+, the proposed concept will allow a speed up by at least a factor of ∼8-10 for the detection of exoplanetary atmospheres.
