Abstract

This dataset supports the study “Groundwater–surface water interaction and salinity responses to projected rainfall and sea-level rise in South Florida.” The archive contains model inputs, climate forcing data, simulation outputs, and post-processing workflows used to assess the combined impacts of projected rainfall variability and sea-level rise (SLR) on the hydrologic system of South Florida. Simulations were conducted using the density-dependent Biscayne and Southern Everglades Coastal Transport (BISECT) model. The model was validated for the baseline period and applied to near-future and far-future projections under moderate (SSP2-4.5) and high (SSP5-8.5) emission scenarios. Rainfall forcing was derived from statistically downscaled CMIP6 projections, with ACCESS-CM2 selected based on performance evaluation against in-situ observations. Sea-level rise projections were obtained from the NASA IPCC AR6 Sea Level Projection Tool. The archive includes updated scenario configurations and outputs for groundwater levels, recharge, groundwater salinity, surface-water stage, surface-water salinity, surface-water temperature, and groundwater evapotranspiration. Because original binary outputs are large, selected files were converted to compressed NetCDF (.nc) format using packed encoding and preserved time-step indexing to maintain numerical fidelity while reducing storage size. Reverse conversion scripts are provided to restore original values if needed.
