Artificial Intelligence and the Rule of Law: Volume I — Law, Bar and Bench (Author's Scholarly Abstract Edition)
Abstract
This record documents the Scholarly Abstract Edition of Artificial Intelligence and the Rule of Law: Volume I — Law, Bar and Bench, an institutional study examining the implications of artificial intelligence within the Indian legal system. The work advances accountability as the organising principle for evaluating artificial intelligence across constitutional law, judicial decision-making, evidence law, forensic science, cyber regulation, data protection, professional ethics, corporate compliance, administrative law, and procedural safeguards. Rather than treating artificial intelligence as an exceptional technological phenomenon, the study situates algorithmic systems within established constitutional and statutory frameworks including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Companies Act, 2013, and Articles 14, 19, 21, and 39A of the Constitution of India. The volume integrates leading judicial precedents including K.S. Puttaswamy v. Union of India, Shreya Singhal v. Union of India, Anvar P.V. v. P.K. Basheer, People’s Union for Civil Liberties v. Union of India, and Hussainara Khatoon v. State of Bihar as doctrinal anchors for assessing AI-mediated systems. Structured institutionally rather than technologically, the book addresses courts, evidence, criminal investigation, surveillance, platforms, data governance, professional responsibility, corporate accountability, administrative algorithms, and systemic autonomy. The work is intended for judges, advocates, policymakers, academics, researchers, and law students. This Scholarly Abstract Edition is provided for academic documentation, citation, and indexing purposes. The complete edition is available through commercial publication channels.
