Abstract

The Ontology of Uncertainty Control (UCT) and Lack: How ‘Nothingness’ Gives Rise to Actional Volition (The Ontology of Uncertainty Control and Lack: How ‘Nothingness’ Emerges Actional Volition) Author: Joonho Choi (ORIGIN) Abstract This paper dismantles the “substance-centrism” that has long dominated Western philosophy and proposes a new paradigm—an Absential Ontology—that locates the origin of being in the Waiting of Lack. Being is not given as an already full and completed substance; rather, it begins as a wave that seeks to respond to the call of the Other from within the empty structural fissures called Nothingness (無) and Lack. In order to address the essential instability that arises in this state of lack, this study introduces the Theory of Uncertainty Control (UCT). According to UCT, every being acquires its own uniqueness through the process of controlling and reducing inherent uncertainty, and the orientation of this control emerges as actional volition. By evolving Jacques Lacan’s concept of lack and Gilles Deleuze’s philosophy of difference in accordance with systems-structural thinking for the era of data science and artificial intelligence, this paper establishes the foundation for a new meta-ontology encompassing both machines and humans. Keywords: Theory of Uncertainty Control (UCT), Lack, Absence, Volition, Absential Ontology, Waiting of Being, Metaphilosophy
